Hebrews 12:7,11

Good morning!

Hebrews 12:7,11: Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as sons. For what son is not disciplined by his father? No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.

No time have I ever learned more than when I was going through hardships. Never have I been closer to God then when I was having to endure hardships. You don't realize it when you are going through it, but that's when the training begins. He is correcting us, molding us and perfecting us. Thankfully, we don't just get in trouble for no reason and are left there to wonder why. Many times I felt like that as a kid, being punished for something and then never really knowing why I was in trouble in the first place. But God's discipline is meaningful and because you are His sons and daughters, He cares whether or not you are growing and maturing. He doesn't want you to stay in one place with Him. Yes it hurts but hardships are necessary to grow you and bring you to where you need to be with Him. Discipline doesn't have to be a negative word. Let's look at it as our time with Him where we are receiving instructions, practicing new behaviors, and acting on what we are being taught. Before you know it, the hardship is over, you are a stronger person and then the harvest comes. You bathe in the righteousness and peace that are yours by right...because you have endured the hardship, accepted the discipline, and are trained and ready for what God has for you!
